This is me in all my Burning Man glory in front of the Temple of Promise which was burned to the ground on Sunday night. Originally, my friend Susan and I had planned to stay for the temple burn, but I was picking a German friend up at the San Francisco airport on Monday night and wanted to clean up and rest at the Motel 6 in Reno before heading home on Labor Day. Driving on Labor Day was a big mistake, and we ended up in bumper-to-bumper traffic the whole way, so I was late to the airport after all. Das tut mir Leid, Alina. But I made it up to her with a whirlwind tour of Santa Cruz, Big Sur, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Hollywood, San Diego, Tijuana, the zoo and safari park, Las Vegas, Death Valley, Mono Lake, Yosemite and San Francisco. Whew! |
I sprinkled some of Maya's ashes inside the temple. Mayita, I miss you every day, Love Mommy.

This Asian couple got married in front of the Temple as I waited for my neighbors Matt and Zoe to marry. It was a horribly windy, dusty day which doesn't show up in these photos after I corrected the levels in Photoshop. |

Another wedding party that braved the storm. |

Another wedding couple. I saw so many weddings on Wednesday. Hey, maybe that's why. It's the day to wed. But my friends Matt and Zoe rescheduled, unbeknownst to me. |

This photo gives a better idea of what the landscape was really like during the dust storm. |

Made in America. They now have Burning Men festivals around the world, but nothing compares to the one that's Made in America. |
